Breast cancer is a breast malignancy. While breast cancer is very rare in men it remains the second most common type of malignancy in BOTH MEN AND WOMEN!
If breast cancer goes undetected it can spread (metastasize) to other areas of the body causing health issues and sometimes death.
Breast cancer is also is the most commonly diagnosed metastatic cancer to the eye.
Of the metastases 9% are to the colored part of the eye (iris) which is visible without a dilated exam. The remaining are within the eye and are observable only after a dilated exam.
It is important that patients suffering from breast cancer be examined with a dilated exam.
