Treating Diabetic Macular Edema

Treatment considerations for DME are:

  1. Laser which attempts to close the swelling producing areas of the diabetic’s macula.
  2. Anti-VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) solutions. This group of medications are injectables administered within the eye to prevent vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) from causing swelling.
